Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) are post-vaccination events, where the body's condition reacts after giving the vaccine. After immunization, local reactions can occur at the injection site. Symptoms vary depending on the reaction of each person's body. Post-immunization events are basically normal and harmless because of the risk of contracting a serious disease (if not vaccinated).
In general, vaccines do not cause a reaction in the body, or if they do, only cause a mild reaction. Reactions that may occur after the Covid-19 vaccination are almost the same as other vaccines, the following symptoms may occur: :
Local reactions
- Pain
- Swelling at the injection site, or redness at the injection site.
Systemic Reaction
- Fever
- Body muscle pain
- Joint Pain
- Headaches
Other Reaction
- Allergic reactions eg, urticaria, edema
- Anaphylactic reaction
- Syncope (Fainting)
Keep in mind, the reaction after the vaccine that arises in each person can be different. Generally, the body's response that appears is a local and systemic reaction. You don't need to worry because these two reactions can go away easily.
